The Benefits of a new roof

Replacing your roof has many benefits to a homeowner

Peace of Mind

The first and most important benefit is the protection the roof provides your family and your possessions.

A new roof may not look as glamorous as a newly renovated kitchen, but it can protect your kitchen from water damage caused by a major storm.

Increased value

A new roof will add to the value of your home should you decide to sell. If you choose to move up from the Minimum Code Roof (as set out by the provincial government) to the Specifications Recommended by Shingle Manufacturers, you will have improved value at a minimum increase in cost. We also add metal drip edges to the roof deck that adds further protection from moisture getting underneath your shingles. Potential purchasers can see that you care about your property.

Improved home energy efficiency

Nearly all replacement roofs need additional venting to meet current building codes. Additional venting allows better air circulation in your attic. Your home will be cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

Improved air quality

A new roof protects against leaks which can cause mold to spread in the attic. Leaks and mold can affect the health of your family.

Improved Curb Appeal

A new roof adds to the attractiveness of your home and your street, improving property values for you and your neighbours.

Home insurance considerations

A roof in disrepair may cause your insurer to not renew your insurance and may limit claims for damage caused by a poorly maintained roof.

On the upside, a new roof may lower your premium slightly especially if you install a Class 4 shingle. After a bad storm, some insurance companies will pay for all or a portion of an upgrade to a Class 4 shingle.
